About The Event
’Tis the season to celebrate - responsibly! This year, ICAAHK is inviting you to enjoy the festive season safely and support a good cause at the same time. Instead of a conventional Christmas party to meet and gather with friends, we are bringing you on a virtual adventure under the ocean to meet different species of sharks all over the world!
Details of the event are as follows:
Date: 19 December 2020 (Saturday)
Time: 15:00-17:00 HKT*
Venue: Online, Zoom link will be provided upon successful registration
Cost: HK$200 per person (of which $142 goes to AfriOceans Conservation Alliance)
Event will be conducted in English. Seats are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first served basis.
15:00-16:30 Sharing - “Dive Under the Sea with a Shark Expert”
Hear from shark expert and award-winning conservationist, Lesley Rochat, at this private event for ICAAHK. You’ll find out how Lesley overcame her fear of sharks and went from being called Shark Bait to the Shark Warrior, and how an extraordinary shark named Maxine changed her life. You’ll learn about shark research as you follow the journey to freedom when Maxine was satellite tagged and set free after 9 years in captivity. This is a kids-friendly event - bring a pen and 2 sheets of paper to join the special activity!
16:30-17:00 ICAAHK Christmas Bingo
Each ticket comes with one Christmas Bingo card for a chance to win prizes including Imperial College London branded goods, board games, lululemon (HK) gift vouchers and more! Staying at home can still be fun and chic!
Let’s dive in and enjoy an extraordinary festive experience!
Speaker’s bio - Lesley Rochat:
“I love the ocean and sharks!
I'm an award-winning conservationist, best known as the Shark Warrior because of my passionate efforts in shark conservation. Because I wanted to help save the oceans I founded a nonprofit organisation, AfriOceans, which focuses on ocean conservation.
I'm also an author of children's books and educational books, an underwater and wildlife photographer, and a dive travel and expedition leader.
I love freediving with sharks!
I'm proud to be a Fellow of The Explorers Club, an inductee of the Women Divers Hall of Fame, and a PADI Ambassadiver.
I established Shark Warrior Adventures, a responsible tourism business and self-funding initiative of AfriOceans that aims to reconnect people to Nature through transformative wildlife experiences. I love sharing my passion for the oceans, and of sharks in particular.”
